*S, H. RAZA (Sayed Haider Raza) (1922-2016) is one of the most important artists of Modern Indian Art history. Raza's thought process & illustrations seem to be influenced a lot by 'Bindu' & related concepts. This implied the central force of energy that pulls out negativity and spreads positive energy all around. It has the related connotation in Indian philosophy of being the point of all creation; the source of space, time, meditation, wholeness & consciousness. Raza experimented with Abstract Expressionism and, later, Geometric Abstraction, for which he is most famous. Taking this to unprecedented levels, every colour and shape in Raza's work bears significant meaning, relating to an element of nature or to part of the universal cycle of life and death.
