Product Description

*Garden Path at Giverny (1902): Monet's water-garden and water-lilies paintings at Giverny occupied him for many years in the later part of his life and were his final big work. By the end of 1890, Monet had made enough money from his paintings to buy his house in Giverny fully, and he began making changes to the garden immediately, including damming a stream that went into the river Epte to create a pond. He had a bridge built over the pond 'in Japanese taste,' and his first paintings of the water-garden in a series, 1899-1900, feature the bridge with water-lilies beneath it and weeping willows surrounding it. These images set the tone for what was to become an increasingly exciting enterprise. *CLAUDE MONET (1845-1870) is one of the world's most famous painters, well-known today for his series of serene water lilies paintings, Claude Monet was instrumental in forging an entirely new direction for the world of art & impressionism. His distinctive use of colour, vision, and conformation would have a long influence on fine art, inspiring many great artists like Van Gogh.
