Product Description
*This is based on "Infanta Margarita Teresa in a Blue Dress", a famous painting by by 'Diego Velazquez', which shows the beauty of the formal dress, with its reflections of light, its shadows, and rich surfaces and young Infanta's golden hair. On 300th death anniversary of Velazquez, Dali decided to reproduce the same. He reproduced Velazquez's imagery in a contemporary style derived from American Abstract Expressionism. It shows Dali's current scientific interests. The left hand of the Infanta, for example, was inspired by tracks of atomic particles on photographic film, while her head is composed, naturally, of rhinoceros horns. Despite these allusions to modern scientific and artistic discoveries, the top left-hand corner of the painting contains a detailed depiction of a room in the Prado, as if to emphasize Dali's debt to the Old Masters and, in particular, to his Spanish predecessors. *Salvador Dali (1904-1989) - A Spanish artist renowned for 'surrealism', cubism, futurism, technical skill, precise draftsmanship, striking & bizarre images in his work. Major themes in his work include dream sequences, the subconscious, sexuality, religion, science and his closest personal relationships. He used this method to realize the dreams and imagination he had in his mind, changing the real world the way he wanted and not necessarily what it was. Dal's artistic repertoire included painting, graphic arts, film, sculpture, design, photography, fiction, poetry, autobiography, essays and criticism.
