Product Description

*Musketeer* (1968)- Picasso, now in his nineties, brought a new figure into his work near the end of the 1960s: the musketeer. Long-flowing locks, neatly formed moustaches, and ruff collars distinguish these figures, which encapsulate the beauty and grace of Golden Age romantic heroes. Picasso received inspiration for these paintings from a variety of sources, including both Dutch and Spanish Old Masters. In this painting, Picasso has shown a seventeenth-century Spanish nobleman in a composition reminiscent of Rembrandt's and Velazquez's portraiture. The frontal view of the fictional sitter shows him proudly displaying his finest silks and satins to the world. To capture the spirit of this passionate figure, Picasso's unique technique is once again portrayed through the employment of simple, bold, and short brushstrokes. *PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) is universally renowned as one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the twentieth century; in terms of art, and art movements. Before the age of 50, the Spanish born artist had become the most well-known name in modern art, with the most distinct style and eye for artistic creation.
