*Seated Woman (Marie-Therese)*(1937)- This cheerful painting was created in the outset of an incredibly productive year for Picasso, who produced several powerful works, including Guernica (1937). He had been re-energized by the effect of his young love and muse, and he had become a legend in his own lifetime. Strong vivid bars of colour are organised in such a way that the dress looks to be a costume in this picture, giving it a harlequinade feel. The colour bands are superbly controlled by the black or white striations here, resulting in a fantastic succession of frenetic patterns throughout the body's contours. Picasso uses his red and green polarisation method once more to provide a layer of motion and a sense of 'cubist building.' *PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) is universally renowned as one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the twentieth century; in terms of art, and art movements. Before the age of 50, the Spanish born artist had become the most well-known name in modern art, with the most distinct style and eye for artistic creation.
