Product Description

*The Beach at Sainte-Adresse (1867): This artwork depicts a chilly, dreary day on the beach, with fisherman and their boats in the foreground. This intriguing environment is partially inspired on Eugene Boudin's Monet works. Both painters resided on the Normandy shore and painted ordinary beach scenes. The town was changing from a typical fishing community to a suburb of nearby Le Havre, whose manufacturing chimneys can be seen in the background of this seascape. In 1867, the artist created two paintings of the same size of this seashore. They appear to juxtapose the sophisticated bourgeois world of Sainte-Adresse with the old labouring world of the fishing hamlet from which it had arisen. *CLAUDE MONET (1845-1870) is one of the world's most famous painters, well-known today for his series of serene water lilies paintings, Claude Monet was instrumental in forging an entirely new direction for the world of art & impressionism. His distinctive use of colour, vision, and conformation would have a long influence on fine art, inspiring many great artists like Van Gogh.
