Product Description

*The Rue Montorgueil in Paris* (1878): This beautiful Impressionist painting was created on June 30 for a government-sponsored "peace and labour" festival. It was one of the efforts prepared for the Universal Exhibition in Paris, and it was meant to represent France's resurgence after her loss in 1870. With its flags showing patriotism and colours adding to the vibrancy of modern France and the milling population below, this urban environment is tremendously "busy." The impressionist method, with its many little colour strokes, evokes the movement of a crowd and the flapping of flags.*CLAUDE MONET (1845-1870) is one of the world's most famous painters, well-known today for his series of serene water lilies paintings, Claude Monet was instrumental in forging an entirely new direction for the world of art & impressionism. His distinctive use of colour, vision, and conformation would have a long influence on fine art, inspiring many great artists like Van Gogh.
