Product Description

* Tribal Family’ (1938) : This painting was created by amrita in ‘Post-Impressionism’ style. After leaving Paris, she was moved and influenced by Indian village people, especially women. She painted many masterpieces depicting facial expressions, happiness and agonies behind expressionless faces, culture & ethos they follow and their lifestyles. *AMRITA SHER-GIL (1913-1941) is considered an important Indian painter of the 20th century & one of the most influential figures in Indian modern art, whose reputation stands on a par with that of the Bengal Renaissance pioneers. She was a keen reader and pianist too. Sher-Gil's paintings are among today's most expensive by Indian women painters, but few have remembered her work while she was alive. After spending her life in France, Turkey, Hungary; she moved to Shimla, India. She started to paint extensively and travelled widely, keen to observe and represent Indian villagers and their way of life.
